FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Anais Weatherly (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Award Monday. A first-time honoree, Weatherly joins teammate Kali Cuttaia as the Quakers’ two winners of the loop’s weekly prize this season.

Anais Weatherly

Weatherly, a 5-10 sophomore forward, averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in the Quakers’ 2-0 week. She shot over 51 percent from the floor in the two tilts, which helped Guilford secure the fifth seed for this week’s ODAC Tournament. Weatherly scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half of Guilford’s 73-71 comeback win at Emory & Henry College Feb. 19. She added seven rebounds and three assists in the triumph. Two days later, Weatherly pumped in a game- and career-high 32 points in the Quakers’ 72-66 upset of regionally ranked Lynchburg College. She shot 12-of-22 from the floor and made seven-of-eight free throws in the highest-scoring game by a Quaker since 2006.

Weatherly leads Guilford with 14.2 points per game, the league’s eighth-best figure, and 8.8 rebounds per outing, the ODAC’s third-highest total. She also boasts the loop’s third-most steals (62) and field goals (152). Her team-best nine double-doubles also stand third in the league.

Coach Stephanie Flamini’s team (16-9) opens ODAC Tourney play as host of 12th-seeded Hollins University Tuesday (2/24) night at 7:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House. The winner advances to a Friday (2/27) quarterfinal bout with #4 Virginia Wesleyan College at the Salem (Va.) Civic Center. The Quakers have played in each of the last three ODAC Tournament finals and won the crown in 2012 and 2013.
