Local Girls Division One College Basketball Team Updates

LOCAL GIRLS DIVISION ONE TEAM UPDATES:COMING DOWN THE STRETCH

The regular season is quickly coming to an end with only two or three games remaining. Winning the remaining games can prove to be very important to many teams. Most teams start the season at least trying to be in the top echelon of their respective conference. Which usually means finishing in the top four before conference tournaments. Below are the updated records of how are local division one girls teams stand in overall total wins both conference and non conference. Post season play is at stake for each and every team.

1. University of North Carolina 22 wins: Megan Buckland (Bishop McGuinness) has not played much this season.

2. Army 20 wins: Cierra Jackson (Ragsdales) Team is 12-4 in conference play good for 2nd.

3. Campbell 17 wins: Amanda Cofer (Northern Guilford), Jessica Pone (Southwest Guilford) and Makayla Rouse (Dudley). Team is 12-6 in conference play and tied for third. Recently got whalloped by Radford by nearly 30 points.

4. Stony Brook 16 wins: Miranda Jenkins (Eastern Guilford). Team is in 3rd place with 9-5 conference play after knocking off Conference power Albany 68-64. Ending their 30 game conference road win streak.

5. Winthrop 16 wins: Ronata Rogers (Greensboro Day) out for season. Team is 12-6 in conference play and is tied for 3rd place with High Point and Campbell.

6. Radford 16 wins: Kierra McIvor (Dudley) 13-5 in conference play good for 2nd. Recently routed Campbell 67-43.

7. High Point: 16 wins: Lindsay Puckett (Rockingham), Kennedy Currie (Dudley)Redshirted. Team is 12-6 in conference play tied for 3rd. Big win over Asheville 57-54.

8. Elon 16 wins: Shayla Burnett (Southern Alamance), Samantha Cofer (Northern Guilford), Autumn Carter (Rockingham) and Lenaira Ruffin (River Mill Academy). Team is 9-6 in conference play.

9. North Carolina State: 16 wins: Akela Maize (New Hope Academy and Kaley Moser (Burlington Williams). Team recently knocked off Duke. Team is 7-7 in conference play good for 9th place.

10. North Carolina A&T: 15 wins: Christina Carter ( Thomasville/VCU), Kenya Hailey (Southeast Guilford). Team is in 3rd place with 9-4 record. Team on 7-game winning streak.

11. Vanderbilt: 14 wins: Paris Kea (Page). Team is tied for 9th place with 5-9 conference record with three other teams.

12. South Carolina Upstate: 13 wins: Brittany Clency (Western Guilford) Team have a 5-7 conference record good for 5th place.

13. Coastal Carolina 12 wins: Cedrica Gibson (Oak Ridge Academy) and Khadeja Wilkerson (Greensboro Day) has not played since third game of season. Team is 6-12 in conference play. Good for 8th.

14. Harvard 10 wins: Cameron Nieters (Bishop McGuiness) Team is 3-7 in conference play. Good for 6th place.

15. Auburn 10 wins : Jessica and Jasmine Jones (West Forsyth) Team is 1-13 in conference play. Good for 14 place which is last in the conference. Got first conference win over Georgia on Sunday.

16. North Carolina Central: 7 wins: Imani Atkinson(Greensboro Day). Team is 5-8 in conference play. Good for 9th place.

17. North Carolina Ashville 7 wins; Brittany Gwynn (High Point Central). Team is 6-12 in conference play. Good for 8th place.

18. UNCG 6 wins: No local players presently but did have Breonna Patterson and Eboni Goings (Dudley) over the last two years. Team is 1-12 in conference play with big win last night against Wofford. Team is in 8th place which is last in conference.

19. Providence 5 wins: Sarah Beal (New Hope Academy) Team is 2-14 in conference play. Good for 9th place.

20. Binghamton 4 wins: Imani Watkins (High Point Andrews) Team is 2-12 in conference play. Good for 8th place.

  3. I think it is crazy that UNCG does not have any local players on their roster. This area has produced so much D1 talent playing in the ACC, SEC, Big South, Southern, CAA, and MEAC but those coaches could not find any talent in the area to help that program. I would bet they have few fans showing up for their games with all of the players being from somewhere else. There are a number of local players that could make this program better immediately. Maybe the next coach will add some locate talent and build the program better.
