HPU WBB’s Robertson Wins Big South Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Redshirt-senior Stacia Robertson of the High Point University women’s basketball team was named the Big South Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday.

This is the fourth time this season and the sixth time in her career that she has received player of the week honors. Both of those totals are records for the HPU women’s basketball program.

The redshirt-senior produced two outstanding performances to close out her final regular season. Robertson registered her 13th double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the Panthers’ 74-58 win at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Grand Island, Neb. native made sure her final game in the Millis Center was a good one. She posted 20 points, six rebounds and six steals as the Purple & White bested Radford 83-63 and secured the No. 3 seed in the Big South Championship.

With 43 points in the two games this week, Robertson passed Cheyenne Parker for fourth in HPU Division I scoring rankings. She also became the second player since the Panthers moved into Division I to reach 1,200 points and 700 rebounds.

Robertson and HPU will begin postseason play on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Big South Championship. The squad will play the winner of No.6 Presbyterian and No. 11 Charleston Southern.
