Elon Men’s Soccer Announces Exciting 2015 Spring Campaign

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s soccer team and head coach Chris Little announced the program’s 2015 spring schedule on Tuesday, March 3. The exciting and challenging slate features eight matches overall including three games versus professional clubs in the team’s study abroad trip to Spain as well as a match at reigning NCAA Tournament champion Virginia.

“We are very excited for the spring season,” said Little. “We have an excellent slate of games and we are looking forward to the challenge of testing ourselves against these other top programs.”

The Phoenix will open its spring slate on Wednesday, March 5, at triad rival High Point at 8:30 p.m. The following week, Elon welcomes in-state rival Charlotte to the home pitch of Rudd Field on March 14 at 6 p.m.

Elon will then travel abroad to Spain from March 20-29 for three games against a pair of local professional teams, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe.

Elon returns to the states on April 11, to play Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. in the Atlantic Coast Conference Showcase at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. Following that contest, the Phoenix travels to ACC foe Virginia, who won the 2014 NCAA College Cup, on April 19 for a 3 p.m. match.

The maroon and gold closes out the spring campaign with a match at another ACC school, Wake Forest, on April 25 with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

The Phoenix is scheduled to return eight starters from its team that finished the 2014 campaign with a 9-6-4 mark in Little’s first year at the helm of the program. Among the returners are All-Colonial Athletic Association picks Miguel Salazar, James Brace, Nathan Diehl and Jonathan Coleby as well as three-year starter Samuel McBride.
