HPU MBB Big South Quarterfinal Notes

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s basketball team (22-8, 13-5) is busy preparing for Friday’s Big South Tournament quarterfinal set for 6 p.m. at the HTC Center in Conway, S.C.

High Point enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will take on the winner of the first round game between No. 7 Gardner-Webb/No. 10 Campbell on Friday, March 6. The first round game between the Runnin’ Bulldogs and Camels will be played Wednesday at 2 p.m.

HPU claimed a share of the 2014-15 Big South regular season title. The Panthers are the first team since Winthrop (2004-07) in the Gregg Marshall era to win three-consecutive Big South regular season championships.

The Panthers have set new Div. I program records for road wins (9), league road wins (6) and road winning percentage (.600) in 2014-15.

HPU is 10-13 (.435) all-time in the Big South Tournament and 3-2 as the No. 2 seed (2004, 2007). HPU is 7-6 all-time in quarterfinal action. The Panthers are 1-0 against Gardner-Webb in the tournament, but have never faced Campbell.
