NCHSAA Regionals continue and today it is the Page Pirates’ turn, as they face the Ardrey Kell Knights in men’s action

You can hear the game here…..
The Page Pirate(21-5) men are ready to play today(4pm) at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum, in Winston-Salem and they will face the Ardrey Kell Knights(26-1)…The Northwest Guilford women turned back the ladies from Ardrey Kell last night at the LJVM and the Page men get their turn to take on the Knights, today…We will have this game for you here at GreensboroSports.com, by way of GreensboroSports Radio and be sure to tune in to our link for GreensboroSports Radio at the top of our home page here at the site, choose your player and then listen in to game with the Pirates and Knights from Winston-Salem….

Page has been a team on the move since back at the Haeco Tournament and they have really come together to go (17-1) since the end of December and since that point and with it their only loss was to the Greensboro Day School Bengals in the semifinals of the Haeco and since that point in time, when Page was (4-4), they have run off 17 big wins, along with just the one loss…Very impressive and the team has been led by the inside play of Xavier Hill-Mais and the “X-Man” has really been focused during this stretch that has taken Page back to the Regionals again in 2015, under first-year head coach Matthew Harder….

Hill-Mais has had plenty of assistance with Jalen Seegars having a classic season from start to finish and the emergence of Diondre Overton at the point guard spot has been a huge plus in the Pirates’ corner….Tyren Melton and Will Jones round out the top five and David Funderburg gives Page a big boost coming in off of the Pirates’ bench and Funderburg can start, if the situation calls for him to be in there, as an extra big….Page has used that three-headed monster with Hill-Mais, Seegars and Overton to their advantage and when you get a big man like Overton driving to the basket, you have a rebounder already by the bucket if his shot does not go in on first-release…

Page is playing with a large amount of confidence right now and what else would you expect, that Double-Overtime win over Mount Tabor back on Monday night was huge and then to finish off North Mecklenburg like they did, you know this team knows what they have to do….Seegars can do so many different things that you have to have several categories ready to fill in on your spotting sheet when you cover him because he is stat stuffer and boy he can dunk/stuff that basketball with authority and you see the same type of power finishes coming from Overton and Hill-Mais….Very athletic team Page is and we look forward to seeing them show their ‘stuff’ today vs. Ardrey Kell….

Page can run and if they get a chance to get the ball moving, it might be best to look out, or to just go ahead and get out of the way….This team means business and you have to like the business-like approach that Hill-Mais has shown since he stepped up back in December….

This is the day for Page and we hope the Pirates have their “A” game locked and loaded when they land for action in Winston-Salem and you never know, it may come down to what the players other than the “Big Three” of Overton, Hill-Mais and Seegars can do….It may just come down to what Melton, Jones and Funderburg have prepped for Page this afternoon….

Remember you can hear the game here…..

  1. Page’s loss to Greensboro Day was in the HAECO semis, not the final. GDS beat Northwest Guilford in the final, and Page beat Smith in the third-place game.

  2. Yes good point, I’m just remembering the Haeco…Will be doing some adjusting…

Page-GDS semis and then GDS-NWG finals…Was the first loss of the year for NWG if memory serves us…
