Guilford County Softball Scene looking serious for this season in 2015

Here’s what our Softball Insider is telling us as the teams break from “Snow Day” training and out into the 60 and 70 degree temps….

Here are a few things that they have heard.

“In the Metro, it looks like another Southeast Guilford and Southern Alamance fight. Although SEG lost Shutt, they return a strong lineup from last year’s team.” Anna Hessenthaler and Emma Strouth, two of the best in the business are at Southeast Guilford….Page has the Dunn kid and the Albright kid, if my memory is charged up that would be Caroline and Gracey and Page also has Coach Ethan Albright leading the troops….Dudley did a good job building their team last year and a friend of mine from Dudley told me that every time he drives past Dudley, he has been seeing kids out there playing softball, no what day of the year it is…He says the Panthers have been hooked/connected to Softball…

In the PT4A, Northwest Guilford returns 9 players from last year’s strong team; but, graduation was kind to Southwest Guilford as well – they will be strong again. Glenn lost at least 6 players to graduation, so it may be slow start for Glenn, but they will come on strong for sure.

Southern Guilford could be one of the stronger teams in the county this season – so the early season Southern Guilford vs Northwest Guilford matchup/game will set the tone for the season.

Northern Guilford will battle for the Mid-State 3-A crown with a strong returning class; but expect Western Alamance to bounce back from heavy losses in graduation.

from Games that were played on Saturday:
Northwest Guilford – 15 (6 Innings)
Southern Guilford – 4

Western Alamance – 6
Southern Guilford – 4

Northwest Guilford – 9
Western Alamance – 0

High Point Christian – 5
Ledford – 4

*****Northwest is headed toward first in a hurry….*****
