Coach Kris Britton steps down as the head girls basketball coach for the Eastern Guilford Wildcats

Coach Kris Britton has resigned/stepped down at the head girls basketball at Eastern Guilford High School…Coach Britton was there with the Wildcats at Eastern Guilford for three seasons and Coach Britton said she is stepping away from coaching basketball, so she can devote more time to her job, as the CEO for Lucky Dog Volleyball…Lucky Dog Volleyball is a volleyball apparel company that does business with teams all over the United States…

Coach Britton said she also plans to spend some time just watching basketball and she told us that it is never a bad thing to be able to sit back and watch teams play, because that is good way to learn more about basketball teams…

Kris Britton has also not ruled out coaching boys basketball one day and if she gets the chance she may go at this goal in a few years and if she has her choice, she would like to start coaching boys basketball on the JV level one day, with her assistant coach, Coach Jenkins at her side…

But for Coach Britton, right now is the right time to step back and spend more time on her job with Lucky Dog Volleyball and put all of her time and energy into this very important job and see how far this will take her and Coach Britton does feel there is a very good chance she will be coaching basketball again one day, whether it be boys or girls, it doesn’t matter, she has really enjoyed and just flat out loved her time coaching over the years…

Coach Britton was the head coach for the Dudley Panther women/girls from 2004-2010 and she led her team to the NCHSAA 3-A State Title in 2009….Names like Helen Terry, Breonna Patterson and Desiree Drayton were the players that sparked that Dudley Panthers team to the state title, for the girls from Lincoln Street….

Coach Britton spent a year as an assistant coach for the Page Pirates under head coach Debbie Jones and she said that was an experience that she will always be thankful for….Before Page and Dudley, Coach Britton spent time in the Southwest Guilford community coaching with and around Coach Willis….

Mrs. Foley, the former principal at Page who then went on to become the principal at Eastern Guilford, called Coach Britton and asked her to come on down to Eastern Guilford and to take charge of the EG Wildcats’ women’s basketball program…Coach Britton followed a very successful coach, Coach Tina Gunn at Eastern, after Coach Gunn stepped down at Eastern and moved over to coach at Grimsley….

Coach Kris Britton’s Eastern Guilford Wildcats finished at (15-10) for the 2014-2015 season and they had a (10-6) conference mark, good enough for 4th in the Mid-State 3-A Conference….The Wildcats made it to Round One of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs, where they lost a tough one on the road, 48-44, at West Carteret…

There are some very good players returning for Eastern Guilford next season with Leeaysia Williamson, Cemere Petty, Jazmine Harris and Tai Cotton…The ‘Cat coach will not find the cupboard bare at Eastern Guilford….

Best of luck heading down the road with more time now at Lucky Dog Volleyball for Coach Kris Britton and you can put your paws up on this one, we will see Coach Britton coaching basketball somewhere again some day/time in the future….A very good coach, still with lots to offer….
