College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 13, Coast Guard 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Eleanora Keene (Wittman, Md./Gunston Day School) scored five goals and Demming Carlow (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) added four in Guilford College’s 13-2 lacrosse victory over the United States Coast Guard Academy Wednesday afternoon.

Keene, a senior midfielder, added two assists for a career- and game-high seven points. She had four goals and an assist by halftime, which helped the Quakers (2-2) to a 9-1 lead.

As in the first half, Coast Guard netted the second half’s first goal when Anne Schneider tallied to make it a 9-2 game. Guilford netted the game’s final four scores and finished with a 41-13 edge in shots.

While Keene and Carlow were the game’s lone multiple-goal scorers, Guilford rookies Kira Buss (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) and Taylor Campellone (Newtown, Pa./George School) both added two points on a goal and an assist. Sarah Sedaghat (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) went the distance in goal and made seven saves, plus three ground balls. Keene and Carter McLeod both picked up five draw controls and Keene also collected five ground balls caused six turnovers.

Schneider and Niki Kruger both scored for the Bears (1-3). Lucy Daghir assisted on both goals. Holly Moore picked up a team-best four ground balls and Angel Fay had 16 saves in goal.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s club opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Saturday (3/14) versus visiting Randolph-Macon College at 1:00 p.m.
