ELON, N.C. – After a 19-12 record this season, including an 11-7 record during its first season in the Colonial Athletic Association, the Elon women’s basketball team has accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
Elon will play at Georgia Tech in the first round on Thursday, March 19, in Atlanta. Game time is still TBD. If the Phoenix advances, the second round will take place March 21-24.
This mark’s Elon’s first appearance in the WNIT and third overall post-season appearance at the Division I level.
The Postseason WNIT features 32 first-round games, beginning Wednesday through Friday, March 18-20. The event culminates Saturday, April 4, with the championship game, which will be televised live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The event offers 32 automatic berths, one to each established conference, and 32 at-large berths.
