Votipka, a senior captain, posted a 3-1 combined record in Guilford’s two ODAC victories. He lost just one game in a 6-0, 6-1, win over Shenandoah University’s Steven Baker March 14. Votipka teamed with Erik Meiler for an 8-3 win over the Hornets’ Baker and Jesse Ewing, which helped the Quakers to a 9-0 win.

The following day, Meiler and Votipka lost to Christian Lynn and Kyle Hartfield of Bridgewater College, 8-3. Votipka fell behind to Bridgewater’s Brandon Larsen, 3-0, at first singles, but roared back to win the next 12 games in a 6-3, 6-0 win. Larsen was ranked 24th in the most recent NCAA Division III South Atlantic Region Rankings. Guilford downed the Eagles, 6-3.

The weekend wins upped Votipka’s overall singles record to 7-6, which leads the team. Votipka and Meiler are 3-3 at first doubles this year.

Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers (4-3, 3-1 ODAC) have won four of their last five matches. Guilford visits league-rival Roanoke College Sunday (3/22) at 1:00 p.m.
