Greensboro Day School Men’s Basketball Team to Dick Sporting Goods High Schools National Tournament:First team from GDS and first team from Greensboro to be invited

On a note in today’s USA Today:

The Greensboro Day School Bengals are going to New York to play in the Dicks Sporting Goods High School Nationals Basketball Tournament April 2-4….

Also entered are Oak Hill(VA),, Montverde Academy (FLA)
Wheeler(GA), Huntington Prep (WVA), Findlay Prep (NEV)
Day & Wings Academy (NY)…. These are teams ranked in the USA TODAY SUPER 25.

News Alert: Greensboro Day School Boys Varsity Basketball Team to Play in National Tournament

The teams have been announced for the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals tournament to take place in New York, April 2-4, 2015. Greensboro Day School was announced as the 7th seed tournament team this morning.

This is the first time that Greensboro Day School has been invited to play in this national tournament and is the first team from Greensboro to be invited.

Greensboro Day will face Number 2 Montverde Academy in Game 3, to be held April 2 at 4 p.m. at Christ the King High School, Middle Village, NY. The game will also air on ESPNU. A full schedule of games can be found online.

Greensboro Day School finished with a 33-2 season and won the NCISAA 3A State Championship.

The team includes players Darius Moore ’15, Trevor Mayo ’15, James Millner ’16, Alex Michael ’18, Jordan Perkins ’17, Marquelle McIntrye ’15, Will Dillard ’18, Jaquar Moorman ’17, Pearce Landry ’17, Travon Mayo ’17, Paul Sprick ’15, Walker Miller ’16, John Newman ’18, Jered Henderson ’16, Peter Agba ’15, and Adam Calhoun ’18. The team is coached by Freddy Johnson who is the winningest coach in North Carolina with 930 wins. Coaching Staff also includes Assistant Coach Jeff Smith, Assistant Coach Johnny Richardson, Assistant Coach Robert Johnson, Christian Pulliam, and Collin Smith.
