WINCHESTER, Va. – Adam Fiore (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) scored a season- and game-high 10 points on five goals and five assists in Guilford College’s 25-12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Shenandoah University Saturday.

Guilford (5-1, 1-1 ODAC) notched its second straight game with 20 or more goals and its third of the season, feats last accomplished in 1992 by a Quakers’ side. Guilford’s 25 goals in the match marked its most since a 29-4 victory over Misericordia University in 2002.

Fiore, a junior attackman, had matched his career high with five goals and had three assists by halftime, which helped the Quakers race to a 17-3 lead. His 10 points stand eighth in school history. Guilford scored 10 goals in the second quarter alone, its highest scoring period of the season.

The Hornets (4-5, 0-2 ODAC) took advantage of seven Guilford penalties in the second half and four of their five extra-man goals in the final 30 minutes. While it outscored Guilford, 5-4, in the third quarter and played the Quakers even (4-4) in the final quarter, Shenandoah never drew closer than 12 goals.

Guilford senior Jace Sowden equaled his personal best with four scores and was one of Guilford’s 13 goal-scorers in the contest. Dylan Haupt dent the twine three times. Alex Brownlee and Daniel Haupt both netted two goals and two assists for four points. Daniel Hughey also scored twice for Guilford. Junior midfielder Connor Manning (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) won 23-of-29 face-offs and picked up a game- and career-best 11 ground balls. Midfielders Ian Wiesenberg and Juquan Tellis both picked up five ground balls. Thomas Deane played 52 minutes in goal, allowed nine goals and made eight saves.
