HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The High Point University women’s golf team shot a combined 311 in the first round of the Low Country Intercollegiate on Saturday in Hilton Head, S.C., and sit in third out of 15 teams after the first day.

“The team got an A for effort today,” head coach Vici Pate Flesher said. “We’re still working on the decision-making process, but it’s going in a positive direction. Today’s round was better because the girls fought hard to get up and down for par and had a lot of birdie opportunities. Danielle had a really solid round today. She’s hitting the ball well and she’s starting to get some confidence again. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s round playing with Wofford and Princeton.”

Sophomore Danielle Fuss carded a two-over 74 on the day to finish in second place. Junior Casey Ward also finished in the top 10 on the day, tying for sixth with a score of 76.
