Elon Women’s Golf Soars to Second at MSU Ocala Spring Invitational

DUNNELLON, Fla. – Led by a one-under par round by Kelsey Badmaev, the Elon women’s golf team flew from seventh place into a tie for second following the second round of the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on Monday, March 23.

The Phoenix carded the second-lowest round of the tournament on Monday, shooting a 294 to give the squad a two-day score of 597 (303-294). Elon will enter Tuesday’s final round one stroke back of Daytona State who leads the field at 296 (305-291).

Badmaev shot a one-under par 71 during her 18 holes on Monday to move from a tie for 11th into a tie for fourth out of 101 players. Her two-day total sits at a one-over 145 (74-71). Badmaev is four strokes back of Daytona State’s Ji Sun Kang’s 141 (69-72) for the individual lead.

The duo of Heather Munro (75-74) and Emily Brooks (75-74) is tied for 12th as both have a score of 149 after 36 holes.

Hilda Kristjansdottir (79-76–155) and Sunna Vidisdottir (83-75–158) round out the five for the Phoenix. Kristjansdottir will begin the final round in a tie for 50th, while Vidisdottir will start Tuesday tied for 63rd.

Heather Dockrill is competing as an individual. Dockrill is tied for 94th after posting rounds of 85 and 86 for a two-day total of 171.

The final round will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort on Tuesday.
