WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The High Point University men’s golf team carded a 308 on Monday at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate and is tied for 19th out of 30 after two rounds.

The Panthers entered the day in 14th place, but a tough morning round put HPU into a tie for 19th with a two-round score of 607. The team will play its final round on Tuesday starting at 9:30 at the Kingsmill Resort-River Course.

“We caught a bad break starting early in the morning in the cold wind,” head coach Greg Flesher said. “However, it was good to see us bounce back and do better once the wind died down. I was especially pleased with A.J. Hopkins’ and L.J. Georgetti’s improvement as the day went on.”

Sophomore Jack Sides was the best of the Panthers again today with a +3 (73). The New Bern, N.C. native is even (140) for the tournament and is tied for second place overall just one stroke out of the lead.

Hopkins, a redshirt-freshman, used a strong back-9 to finish with a +6 (76) to move up into a tie for 80th out of 160. Meanwhile, senior L.J. Georgetti fired a +9 (79) for a second straight day.

The Purple & White will be off the next two weekends before taking park in the Liberty Spring Invitational on April 9-10 in Amherst, Va.
