NCCSIA Announces 2014-15 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2014-15 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team on Tuesday. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.

The 10-member 2014-15 NCCSIA College Division Women’s Basketball All-State Teams are represented by nine different North Carolina Colleges and Universities. Three members of the first team were named to the All-Southeast region teams, while McKenize Owen, of Belmont Abbey, was the Carolinas Conference Player of the Year. Joining Owen on the NCCSIA first team were Camille Glymph, of Mars Hill, Chantel Dunbar, of Wingate, Jazmine Charles, of Lenoir-Rhyne, and Katie Williams, of Brevard, rounded out the NCCSIA first team.

Glymph and Dunbar were both first team All-South Atlantic Conference and Daktronics All-Southeast Region selections. Charles was named first team All-SAC and second team all-region, while Williams was a second team All-SAC pick.

Owen was the first CC Player of the Year for Belmont Abbey in nearly a decade as she averaged 20.2 points a contest. The two-time all-conference selection shot 53% from the field on the year. Owen also led the Crusaders in rebounding at 7.6 boards per game. She was a second team NCCSIA selection last season.

Glymph was one of the top scorers in NCAA II, averaging 23.8 points a contest. She set a school and SAC record when she scored 45 points in a win over Brevard. Glymph also led the SAC in free throw shooting at 87.1% and with 100 three-point goals.

Dunbar led the SAC in rebounding at 10.3 rebounds a game and was Wingate’s top scorer at 12.4 points per game. She totaled 14 double-doubles on the season.

Charles repeats as a first team NCCSIA pick from 2013-14. The senior led the Bears in scoring at 17.5 points a game and made a team-high 54 three-pointers.

Williams was third in the SAC in scoring at 16.8 points a game. She set a Brevard record with 35 points against Lenoir-Rhyne and was one of the league’s best three-point shooters as she hit on 42.4% of her attempts.

The second team consists of Quantashea Lewis, of Salem College, Shanita Hampton and Tiffani Stephens, of Greensboro College, Anais Weatherly, of Guilford, and Jessi Hayes, of Meredith College.
