Ebony Scott to Join Elon Phoenix Volleyball Program

ELON, N.C. – Elon volleyball head coach Mary Tendler has announced the addition of outside hitter Ebony Scott to the Phoenix program for the 2015 season. Scott, a native of Powhatan, Va., spent the previous three seasons at Michigan State and will have two seasons of eligibility with the Phoenix.

“When Ebony visited campus, it seemed like a perfect fit. We fulfill her needs academically and she got along great with the players,” said Tendler. “She jumps very well and will be a dynamic player for us on the outside. She has been training and developing for the past three years at a school that competes at the highest level. Ebony is very excited to show what she can do this fall wearing the maroon and gold. We welcome Ebony and her family to Elon and look forward to the start of our 2015 season.”

While with the Spartans from 2012-2014, including a redshirt freshman season, the team went 67-36 overall and 32-28 in the Big Ten. MSU made the NCAA tournament all three seasons while Scott was with the team, including two Sweet 16 appearances.

While at Powhatan High School, Scott hit .560 as a senior, to go along with 247 blocks and 127 aces. She earned second team all-region, first team all-district and team MVP honors in her last season. Scott was also a standout track and field athlete, earning all-state, all-region, all-district and all-metro honors for her performances in the triple jump, long jump and shot put. In the classroom, she was an honor roll student and was a VHSL Scholar Athlete Award winner.

Ebony is the daughter of John and Mamie Scott.
