Southwest Guilford – Matt Wade: 1 for 2, game winning RBI in 6th; W; Mitchell Peck: 2 for 2;
Jacob Edwards: 2 for 3, scored game winning run

It was a pitchers duel between two Piedmont Triad rivals on Thursday night. Southwest scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Jacob Edwards led off with an infield single, went to second on a wild pitch and scored when Matt Wade got a two out single up the middle. That was all Kyle Blendinger would need as he retired the last 10 batters he faced in order. Connor Burrows pitched 5 innings of shutout ball for the Tigers, but left with the score tied and got no decision.

The real winner on the night was the “vs. Cancer Foundation”. The two teams raised money for the foundation and had their heads shaved to support the fight against childhood cancer. Half of all proceeds will benefit national childhood cancer research, and the other half will help kids directly at a local children’s hospital. Chase Jones, a former Ragsdale baseball player is the CEO and Founder of the organization. Ragsdale raised $5,895 to support the cause and Southwest Guilford had contributions totaling $1,495. A great effort by both teams to help the battle against childhood cancer

Ragsdale travels to Wilson, NC for a Saturday game at Fleming Stadium against C.B. Aycock at 12:30 at Fleming Stadium.
Southwest Guilford will also be in Wilson on Saturday to play Rocky Mount at 5:00 PM at Hunt High School
