Johansen Tabbed CAA Track Athlete of the Week
For the second straight week, Elon had an athlete selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Track Athlete of the Week with sophomore Kimberly Johansen receiving the honor on Tuesday, March 31. The Chelmsford, England, native set a new outdoor school-record in the 800-meters with a time of 2:11.19 at the Raleigh Relays, finishing as the runner-up. That time sits atop the league’s performance list this year and is also 25th overall in the NCAA East Region.

Johansen also ran a new personal-best time of 4:27.32 in the 1,500-meters at Raleigh and was seventh overall in the race. That time is also best in the CAA and is 11th overall in the NCAA East Region.

Johansen becomes the second Phoenix athlete to receive the CAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week accolade. Last week, Esposito took home the award for her performance in the Phoenix’s opening outdoor meet of the year, the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Tops in the CAA
Along with Johansen, Elon has athletes currently sitting atop the CAA performance list in six events. Griffin holds the league’s best time in the 100-meter hurdles (13.87) while Esposito is the CAA leader in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:00.26. Novotna leads the way in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:27.14) while Hames’ toss of 151’ 6” (46.18m) in the discus throw is also best in the league.
