EMORY, Va. – Guilford College’s women’s tennis team posted its third straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win Saturday with a 7-2 triumph over Emory & Henry College.
Guilford (5-4, 3-4 ODAC) claimed one doubles point when the Wasps (2-4, 1-4 ODAC) defaulted at third doubles due to a lack of competitors. The Quakers’ second-doubles tandem of Nora Prokosch and Fernanda Gonzalez scored an 8-0 victory over Emory & Henry’s Danielle Amoruso and Kala Curtis.
Prokosch and Gonzalez also won in singles action. Prokosch downed Curtis at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Gonzalez topped Amoruso at third singles, 6-0, 6-0. Allison Hewitt won the second-singles contest over Lauren Riner, 6-2, 6-0. The Wasps defaulted the fifth- and sixth-singles tilts.
Emory & Henry’s Stella Di Michele, the defending ODAC Rookie of the Year, defeated Haley Andrews at first singles, 6-0, 6-2, and teamed with Riner for an 8-5 first-doubles win over Andrews and Hewitt.
Coach Dave McCain’s Quakers host Agnes Scott College Sunday (4/5) in a 1:00 p.m. nonconference match.
