Elon Men’s Golf Wraps Up Play at Gary Koch Invitational

GASTONIA, N.C. – The Elon University men’s golf team finished up play at the Gary Koch Invitational on Tuesday, April 7 with a final round 296. The Phoenix finished in 14h place in the 15-team field with an eight-over par 903 (308-299-296).

Jonathan DiIanni led the team, finishing two shots over par with a 218 (76-71-71). Dilanni placed in a tie for 23rd. Troy Beaver followed Dilanni for Elon in the ranks, tied for 47th. Beaver finished nine-over par, shooting a 77-73-75 giving him a final mark of 225.

Charlie May moved up four spots from the conclusion of Monday’s play to finish tied for 67th. May shot 79-78-74 for a final of 231. Will Dilanni was right behind with a 236 (78-82-76), placing him at 75th. Jake Leavitt wrapped up his tournament at 238 (77-77-84), putting him in 78th at the end.

The nation’s number one team, Florida State, claimed the top spot on the team leaderboard, shooting an 842 (276-285-281) over its three rounds. Thirteenth ranked Auburn finished second with an 852 (289-281-282). Host Kentucky finished in third with an 858 (290-282-286).

Both Michael Johnson of Auburn and fifteenth-ranked Rowin Caron of Florida State shot an eight-under par 208 to share medalist honors.

Elon will return to the links at the Greenbrier Intercollegiate in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on Monday, April 13.
