Elon’s Dixon Collects First CAA Field Athlete of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Emily Dixon was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, April 7. This is the third straight week a member of the team has received CAA weekly honors.

Dixon earned her first career league weekly honor after the Bath, United Kingdom, native captured the heptathlon title this past weekend, April 3-4, at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational. Dixon tallied 4,818 points in the multi-events, the second-best performance in school history, and currently sits first on the CAA’s performance list and seventh overall in the NCAA East Region.

Dixon won three events in the heptathlon at Liberty. She set a personal-best in the high jump with a cleared height of 5’ 4.5” (1.64m) while also clocking in a personal-record time of 25.68 in the 200-meters. She won the 100-meter hurdles event with a wind-aided time of 14.39.

Dixon joins Jen Esposito and Kimberly Johansen as the other members of the Phoenix to have received a CAA weekly honor this year.
