HPU’s James House named Big South Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University men’s track & field sprinter James House has been named the Big South Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

It marks the first time this outdoor season and second time overall in 2015 that House has garnered a weekly league honor. He also was named Big South Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on January 21.

House shattered his personal record in the 100-meter dash by more than 0.6 seconds with a time of 10.53 at High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting Saturday. The time placed him third in the elite 100m race of the day. It also set the top mark in the Big South this season and is 26th fastest in the NCAA Div. I East Region.

The Cary, N.C., native also placed second in the participation section of the 200m dash in a PR of 21.80 seconds Saturday inside Vert Stadium. That mark is sixth-fastest in the Big South this season.

The Panthers return to action this Friday and Saturday (April 10-11) when the team will compete in the Bill Carson Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
