COACH RONNIE SMITH TO BE HONORED TUESDAY, APRIL 14 AT HOME BASEBALL GAME

This Tuesday, April 14, former Ragsdale Coach and Teacher Ronnie Smith will be honored during the third inning of the Tiger’s home Baseball game vs. East Forsyth. Coach Smith passed away shortly after his retirement from coaching and teaching in 2007. His legacy, however, more than lives on in the hallways and throughout the campus of Ragsdale High School. In honor of Coach Smith, the Baseball stadium at Ragsdale is now named the Ronnie Smith Baseball Stadium. While a student at Ragsdale High in the early 1970’s, Ronnie Smith excelled athletically. Among his multitude of impressive accolades, Smith was named All-State in Baseball, becoming Ragsdale’s first All-State player in the sport. Coach Smith also excelled in the Football program at Ragsdale during his playing days. Smith later went on to become an outstanding coach and teacher, as his career took him to both High Point Central and Southeast Guilford, before returning to Ragsdale High, his alma mater, in 1998. While at Ragsdale, Ronnie Smith was a tremendous coach in both Track & Field, and Football. He is also well-known and incredibly respected for being a dynamic strength coach and teacher. Head Baseball Coach Donnie Maness and his staff have lined up an impressive ceremony to honor Coach Smith at this Tuesday’s home game. Also, Head Football Coach Tommy Norwood, a colleague and close friend of Coach Smith for many years, will speak on Coach Smith’s behalf.

Game time this Tuesday is set for 7:00 PM.
