College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 19, Randolph 10

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Eleanora Keene scored each of her game-high five goals in the decisive second half of Guilford College’s 19-10 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Randolph College Wednesday night.

Keene tallied twice and set up a Marina Bailey goal during Guilford’s 5-1 run to start the second half. The burst gave Guilford (7-7, 3-5 ODAC) an 11-7 edge with 18:54 left in regulation. The teams traded tallies before Keene sparked a streak of five straight Guilford scores. She started and finished the run, which opened an 18-9 Quakers’ lead with 3:05 remaining.

Guilford’s Kira Buss (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) came off the bench to score a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists, all career highs. Like Keene, she scored all of her goals in the second half. Marina Bailey also netted four goals and added two assists. Keene, who also had six points, collected seven draw controls, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, all game bests. Teammate Demming Carlow scored three times. Quakers’ freshman Sarah Sedaghat (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) started in goal and made nine saves.

Guilford held a 43-22 edge in shots and scored on eight-of-13 free-position shots.

Taylor Klevenz had four goals and an assist for the WildCats (3-11, 1-7 ODAC). She scored three successive first-half scores in a 4-0 Randolph run that gave the hosts an early 5-2 advantage. Teammate Alyssa Umberger also had four goals. The WildCats’ Samantha Fagone made 16 saves in goal.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers close out their home schedule Saturday (4/18) against visiting league-rival Bridgewater College at 4:00 p.m.
