HPU’s Sides Earns All-Big South Men’s Golf Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Sophomore Jack Sides of the High Point University men’s golf team was named to the All-Big South team and the league’s all-academic squad, the conference announced on Tuesday.

“Jack has been a hard worker all year on the course and in the classroom and it’s great to see him earn recognition for his accomplishments,” head coach Greg Flesher continued. “To be all-conference in such a good golf league is a big deal and I’m proud of him.”

The New Bern, N.C. native led HPU with a 72.61 scoring average on the year. Meanwhile, Sides was the medalist at the Cape Fear National Invitational and became the first Panther to win a tournament since Chase Wilson won in Oct. 2012.

Sides, a Business major, earned a spot on the conference’s all-academic squad with a 3.76 cumulative GPA. He rounded out his season with a team-best 21st-place finish in the Big South Championship on April 19-21 in Ninety-Six, S.C.
