CONOVER, N.C. – Guilford College senior Drew Thompson shot 71-71-142 to post his first college win and help the Quakers clinch their league-record 15th Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Golf Championship Tuesday.

Guilford shot 293-288-581 over 36 holes at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa for the Quakers’ fifth straight league title, which secured the ODAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships at the Grandover Golf and Conference Center May 12-15.

The Quakers’ Ty Palmer (Kernersville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day) and Harrison Frye (High Point, N.C./High Point Central) both shared second place in the 50-man field with even-par scores of 144. Sophomore Tanner Gross (Archdale, N.C./Homeschooled) shot 75-76-151 and shared ninth place.

Thompson, a senior, fired two rounds of one-under-par to become the Quakers’ 14th ODAC Championship medalist. He was named the league’s Men’s Golfer of the Year at Monday night’s awards banquet.
