College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 21, Hollins 3

ROANOKE, Va. – Eleanora Keene scored a career- and game-high nine points on five goals and four assists in Guilford College’s 21-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Hollins University Thursday.

Keene scored twice and set up two more scores as the Quakers (8-8, 4-6 ODAC) opened the game on an 11-0 run. Marina Bailey and Kira Buss also scored twice during the spurt. Jessie Deese got Hollins (0-13, 0-10 ODAC) on the board 9:38 before halftime. Keene added a third first-half goal and Bailey notched two more scores for a 14-1 Quakers’ lead at halftime.

Guilford reeled off the first six tallies of the second half, including two by Keene and Demming Carlow. Bonnie Jo Blevins and Christina Havrila scored for the hosts before Quakers’ defender Madison Ruppenthal netted her first goal of 2015, which capped the game’s scoring.

Guilford’s Carlow scored a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists. Bailey finished with four goals and one assist for five points. Rookie Kelly Martin added a four points and three goals, both personal bests. Keene collected a season-best 15 draw controls, two shy of her school record and the second-highest total in school history. She also picked up seven ground balls and caused five turnovers. Carter MacLeod tied the Guilford standard with seven caused turnovers and picked up a career-best seven ground balls. Samantha Sedaghat made one save in goal against just four shots.

The contest concluded the season for coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers, who missed the ODAC Tournament in a tie-breaking procedure for the sixth and final seed.
