College Men’s Track and Field Results – Guilford Claims Three Top-Five Finishes at Appalachian State Open

BOONE, N.C. – Guilford College’s Men’s Track and Field squad claimed three top-five finishes in the Appalachian State Open, a post-season meet for the Quakers. All three NCAA divisions were represented in the meet while only a handful of Quakers participated in the meet.

Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) broke the school’s 400 meter run record by .08 seconds thanks to a fifth-place finish with a time of 49.59. 1.19 seconds separated Evans from the top spot in the race. The mark is the first all-time program top-eight 400 meter run mark in over two years.

David Cason (Clemmons, N.C/West Forsyth) claimed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:44.24 seconds. The redshirt-senior was only .8 seconds off the race-winning mark.

Andris Goncarovs earned Guilford’s final top-five finish in the meet, placing fourth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:36.76. The time was the top non-Division I time in the race.

A portion of the Quakers continue their season Thursday at the Duke Twilight.
