Elon vs. Delaware, Friday-Sunday, May 8-10, at 6:30/4/1:30 p.m., Latham Park

• In a Sunday win at Hofstra, Elon belted four home runs, including two by sophomore Nick Zammarelli. The four homers were the most in a game for the Phoenix since an April 23, 2010, contest at College of Charleston.
• Senior Quinn Bower swiped the 61st base of his career on Sunday. Bower now stands seventh on Elon’s all-time stolen base chart as he broke a tie with David Whitley (1978-81).
• The Phoenix wrap up a five-game road swing with a Wednesday evening bout at North Carolina before hosting its final CAA series of the year as the Delaware Blue Hens visit Latham Park this weekend.
• Elon will recognize an 11-player senior class prior to Sunday’s game with Delaware.
• After Sunday’s game, all Elon players and coaches will have their heads shaved to raise funds to battle childhood cancers. The Vs. Cancer event has already raised over $29,000 this year. Fans can make a donation a team.vscancer.org/elonbaseball.

Softball (30-20)
CAA Softball Championships
No. 3 Elon vs. No. 2 Hofstra, Wednesday, May 6, at 3 p.m., Harrisonburg, Va.

• The Phoenix will compete in its first Colonial Athletic Association Softball Championship tournament this week The No. 3 seed Phoenix opens the double-elimination tournament vs. No. 2 seed Hofstra at 3 p.m.
• Elon clinched the third seed of the four-team field last weekend with a sweep of in-state foe UNCW coupled with a Towson loss to Delaware last Friday, May 1. The Phoenix won two of those games in the late innings including a walk-off in the series finale.
• Sophomore Carey Million provided the game-winning home runs in those two contests. The Roebling, N.J., native hit the go-ahead home run in the opening game to help Elon to a 5-3 victory over the Seahawks before she blasted the walk-off home run in the eighth inning of the series finale to complete the sweep.
• Elon earned its first 30-win season since 2011 and has its highest winning percentage in a single year since 2010.
• Junior pitcher Kayla Caruso won all three games for the Phoenix last weekend and has 12 on the year, the most for an Elon pitcher since 2012.

Women’s Track & Field
Elon at Duke Twilight, Wednesday, May 6, Durham, N.C.

• The Phoenix will look to have some individual athletes qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round (May 28 – 30) in the first of two last chance meets on the schedule, the Duke Twilight on Wednesday.
• The maroon and gold became the first Elon team to win a Colonial Athletic Association team championship as the Phoenix won the 2015 CAA Outdoor Championship meet on Saturday, May 2. Elon posted 150 points to capture its first-ever conference championship in its 15-year program history.
• Elon had five athletes win six event titles at the CAA Championships. Sophomore Kimberly Johansen stood out above the rest as the Chelmsford, England, native won both the 800 and 1,500-meters. Johansen set a new CAA outdoor record in the 1,500-meters with her time of 4:22.82 and broke her school-record in the 800-meters with a time of 2:10.42. Johansen’s efforts earned her the CAA Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet.
• Emily Dixon (heptathlon), Jen Esposito (400-meters), Bryanna Hames (discus) and Tereza Novotna (3,000-meter steeplechase) also won CAA championships in their respective events. Dixon set a new school-record in the heptathlon with 4,921 points, while Esposito ran the third-fastest time in CAA history with her time of 59.08. Hames set the school-record in the discus throw with a heave of 158’1” (48.19m), while Novotna ran the second-best time in CAA history in the steeplechase with her time of 10:22.22.
