Kara Shutt, from Southeast Guilford High School, might just be having the best softball or baseball season from all of the high school or college players from our area….

Just look at these crazy numbers turned in by the Phoenix’ freshman and former Falcon:

The Greensboro, N.C., native(Kara Shutt) had one of the better softball seasons from a freshman in Elon University program history leading the team with 44 RBI, the second-best single-season total in school history. She paced the squad in slugging percentage (.521), runs scored (35) and doubles (14) while tied for second on the team in average (.331) and second overall hits (56) and triples (three) while appearing in and starting all 53 games…..

Just checked on Josh Tobias, another former SEG Falcon and as of today, he is batting .361 and he is the top man for the Florida Gators in that department…..

Like Carmine Pagano has said on more than one occasion:
“HWPO/Hard Work Pays Off”……..

Thanks Andy. Kara had a great freshman year and we are very proud of her. She has worked very hard but her teammates deserve a lot of the credit too. Elon softball has a goal to be a power house in the CAA. Coach Bocock is doing the right things to get them there. We are looking forward to next year. Congrats to Josh, super baseball player!
