How could we get hit this hard…If Northern Guilford softball is home on Friday night it is going to be time to get there….Thanks to Don Moore tonight for keeping our scoreboard going and thanks to Wyatt Smith for hitting the game down at Southeast Guilford…I was also down at SEG and that was a hard pill to swallow after the Falcons had played so good all season long and you have to give some key credit to Leesville Road for the job that did coming in here and winning this game….

On Page-Matthews-Butler from the Charlotte Observer:

One Cinderella run ended and one kept going Tuesday night in the N.C. 4A state high school baseball playoffs. The Greensboro Page Pirates saw their season end at Butler as the Bulldogs broke open a close game in the fourth inning and romped 11-1.

The game ended when starting pitcher Tate Pennington drove a base-loaded single just inside the third-base line to score two runs to give Butler a sixth-inning mercy-rule win.

Pennington went the distance scattering six hits and greatly helped his cause at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBI.

from the Sanford newspaper on Northern Guilford-Lee County:

SANFORD —
Lee County’s baseball squad made it back-to-back seventh-inning victories and reached the quarterfinals of the NCHSAA 3A State Tournament Tuesday night.

Bo Wicker turned third and raced down the line to an oncoming celebration at the plate thanks to a Northern Guilford error, a wild throw from second base to first on an attempt at an inning-ending double play, giving the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 victory.

Lee County’s Alston Scott and Northern Guilford’s Josh Pike held the opposing lineups to four hits each. The Jackets’ winning run didn’t require a hit along the way.

The word on Northwest Guilford baseball at North Davidson on Tuesday night from the Lexington Dispatch:

WELCOME — Now you see it. Now you don’t.

At least, that must be the case if you’re playing right field at North Davidson and it’s 8:30 p.m. in the fading light of the evening.

Incredibly, Northwest Guilford right fielder Cole Underwood lost two fly balls in the bottom of the sixth inning of a tied game to allow North Davidson to rally for a remarkable 5-3 victory Tuesday night in the third round of the 4-A state playoffs.

The Knights play Providence in a game at North at 7 p.m. Friday. No. 9 Providence upended top-seeded South Caldwell 8-7 in eight innings Tuesday.

“You know, anywhere you go at dusk, until the sun goes down, it’s tough to see,” said North coach Mike Meadows, whose fifth-seeded team is now 22-4 overall for the year. “We were just fortunate, I guess.”

That might be an understatement.

The Vikings had just rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, thanks in part to a botched double play attempt, to tie the game at 3-3.

  1. Here’s what was happening with NWG-AC softball:

Softball. NWG takes a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the 5th. But finally falls to Alexander Central 10-4. Tough environment to play in. Lady Vikings end a great year.

  2. Andy,

With most of Guilford County starting the new Spring Football this week how bout some Football inside info on the 2015 season?

  3. Inside football info…WOW that will get me busy, I will see what we can do…

I feel sort of like David Letterman and like this is my last show, but it may be time to start switching seasons…

    WOW….

There was a time when football was my entire life and now we have all of these different seasons…

May need to hit the sled again….
