Tamera Thorpe(Greensboro Day School) signs with USC Upstate

Tamera Thorpe, Greensboro Day School girls basketball, signed at the Greensboro Day School in the Sloan Theatre.
(The signing took place on Thursday morning.)

Tamera Thorpe signed with USC Upstate (The University of South Carolina Upstate). Upstate is a mid level D1 program playing in the Atlantic Sun conference located in Spartanburg, SC.

Tamera was being recruited this past spring by schools such as: UNC Pembroke, Queens, Coastal Carolina, Roanoke, Guilford College, LaSalle, Delaware State, Savannah State, and Charleston Southern.

Tamera leaves Greensboro Day School as the leading scorer with 2,248 points. She holds single game records such as: 38 points, 14 field goals, and 5 3-pt shots. She also is the single season record holder for points, steals, field goals, free throws and made 3 pt shots. She is the career leader in points 2,248, 3-pt shots made and steals 461.

*2014 HAECO Basketball All-Tournament Team
*2014-15 NC Private School All-Star Game
*2015 NC McDonald’s Basketball All-American Team nominee
*2015 NC Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year nominee
*2015 Top 100 National Prospect List
*2014 Regional Super 60 Selection

Tamera played all 4 years of her high school career at Greensboro Day School. She helped lead Greensboro Day to 2 state finals and 1 state semi-finals in basketball (all first in GDS history). During her senior year she averaged 22.3 pts, 4.3 stl, 3 asst, and 5.8 rebounds in basketball. She also finished her spring track season by winning 5th in the State Championships for both the 100 and 200 meters while remaining on the Dean’s Honor List both semesters.
