With the Strength of a Three Run Home Run From David Newcomers the HiToms win 6-1

THOMASVILLE, NC – MAY 24 – The Hitoms win 6 to 1 off a fourth inning three run home run by Former Post 87 HiTom, David Newcomer.

Four different pitchers (Gardner, Bellenkes, Gay and Gulzow) were featured in the game with Gardner taking the win improving to 1-0 on the season. The HiToms started off strong in the first after a quick inning for Gardner finishing the first half inning with a one strikeout. He would retire with four total on the day.

With a 1 to 1 score Newcomer came in and blasted a three run home run over the left field wall for the first home run of the season to boost the HiToms up 3 for a 4 to 1 lead.

In the seventh inning Slater would continue the scoring with a double to let field to score Johnson and Culler and extend the lead to 6 to 1.

The HiToms host CVCL opponent, Carolina Pirates, tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at Finch Field after the Crescent Ford bike parade and then Wednesday face off against CPL rival, Florence Redwolves, for their first CPL game of the season.
