  1. Well this may be the lamest thing the City has ever done. What you have at Lewis is a tradition of excellence and coaches who stay. When you have coaches who stay you get the same product year and out. Simple as that. That area that feeds Lewis is where people have been moving across the railroad tracks the last 15 years. I was one of the first blacks to play at Lewis in the 70’s and the same character building and coaching methods are still in place,,Besides Brantley Edwards, and Icon, Same coach too, Living legend Coach Stanley. I coached beside him and many just see winning records and city championships.. They dont see the young men who have maturated on that practice field and learned skills of life that they would not have gotten any other place. Character building is the biggest asset at Lewis. This allows for each child to understand that at Lewis its team first. This leads to kids giving 100 maximum effort. Contrary to popular belief, disrupted behavior for allstars players are not rewarded at Lewis. We will play with Lesser skill players within a team first concept. You will be amazed the output that this produces. Also most do not know, if you are Varsity, we just dont play the best players,, every player plays all game long. 18 players play and we sub multiple players every two plays , every game every year. Do you understand what that means. That means even the least skilled player on Varsity is within the team concept and plays every two plays some times every other play for some positions. I have seen many a time and over many years some kids play one or two plays the entire game. So breaking up Lewis will not kill the tradition of excellence. It will only stymie the progress of developing character excellence in a handful of young men in Greensboro.

  3. I agree with Robinson, look at just a few outstanding kids that came from Lewis, Carmine Pagano,Ty Graves,Jalen Gavin, CJ Freeman,Connell Young,JAKE Simpson, tell me any other program that produces that kind of talent, and please guys don’t give me the recruiting line because we’re talking about 7/8yr old kids lol,GREAT TRADITION OVER AT LEWIS DON’T SCREW IT UP GREENSBORO!!!

  4. Todd Ellis, Stafford Moser, Danny Manning, Bobby and Jeff Dunn. This is a sham. Instead of focusing on building other programs the City is taking the all too popular idea of pulling everyone down to the lowest level. This idea is nothing but divide and conquer Lewis!. This is a shame. Brantley Edwards just rolled over in his grave.
