It was a tight game until Winston Salem Post 55 scored nine late runs for the 13-3 victory over Eastern Randolph Post 81 on Friday.

Hunter Curtis paced Eastern Randolph Post 81 at the plate. Curtis went 4-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first, fifth, seventh, and ninth innings.

Dakota Devine recorded the win for Winston Salem Post 55. He allowed two runs over five innings. Devine struck out two, walked one and gave up four hits.

Cole Weiss, Jake Washer, Junior Snow and Will Sprinkle helped lead Winston Salem Post 55. They combined for 11 hits and seven RBIs.

Chase Fuquay took the loss for Eastern Randolph Post 81. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the second saw Eastern Randolph Post 81 take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Christian Rodriguez, plating DJ Laxton started the inning off.

Eastern Randolph Post 81 pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the seventh. In the fourth, Eastern Randolph Post 81 scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryne Yates, scoring Laxton.

Winston Salem Post 55 never trailed after scoring three runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Washer and a two-run error.

One Eastern Randolph Post 81 run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the seventh, making the score 6-3. An RBI single by Curtis triggered Eastern Randolph Post 81’s comeback. Finally, Graham Mortan got Easton Jones to ground out to end the threat.
