Game Story on Northern Guilford-Enka in the NCHSAA 3-A State Softball Championship Series:Game One

CLASS 3-A SOFTBALL, GAME ONE:

HARRIS LEADS ENKA TO 5-1 VICTORY OVER NORTHERN GUILFORD

GREENSBORO— Jordan Harris banged out three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs to lead Enka to a 5-1 triumph over Northern Guilford on Friday night in the opening game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A softball championship series at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

The Sugar Jets, the only unbeaten team in the championship field, is now 27-0 and last won an NCHSAA state softball crown in 1996. Northern Guilford is in its first trip to the state softball championships and is now 25-3.

Jasmine Palmer, who is committed to continue her career at Florida State, had two hits for the winners. Hunter Hall had two hits for Northern Guilford.

Katie Grace Olinger pitched the complete game victory for Enka, scattering five hits and striking out five to run her record to 14-0. Ashton Lambeth was the losing pitcher, her first loss in 16 decisions, although she helped her cause with a run-scoring double in the sixth.

Game two in the best of three series is set for Saturday at 11 am, with a third game if necessary Saturday afternoon.
