Derrick Johnson, who is a Ben L. Smith graduate and was the Golden Eagles baseball coach for several years, has taken on the head girls basketball coaching job at Reidsville High School…Coach Johnson now running the Rams….
Chris Spence, the former boys basketball coach at Ben L. Smith High School passed away this past weekend…Coach Spence was short stocky man and he was the head coach for the Eagles’ basketball team right before Art Wade(now the AD at Dudley) took over the Eagles…
Coach Spence would have been in his early 50’s….

first of all, my deepest condolences to the Spence family and the Smith high School family. I know he touched so many lives in the community.
I had the pleasure of being a witness to the leadership abilities of Coach Johnson as he led the boys basketball team further than they had ever been before. I even implemented some of his strategies in my game plan with my girls. He will do wonders for Reidsville!!
