Elon Men’s Soccer Releases 2015 Schedule

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head men’s soccer coach Chris Little announced the program’s upcoming 2015 fall schedule on Tuesday, June 9. The 18-game slate features seven matches at the home confines of Rudd Field and three games versus teams that reached the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

After starting the fall with exhibition matches at in-state rivals Charlotte (Aug. 16) and NC State (Aug. 19), the Phoenix begins its season at the Duke hosted John Rennie/Nike Invitational for the third straight season in Durham, N.C. Elon opens the year versus first-time opponents DePaul (Aug. 28) and Saint Mary’s (Aug. 30) at the tournament.

The following week, the Phoenix heads to Wilmington, N.C., for its second early-season tournament, the UNCW Courtyard Classic. The maroon and gold faces Campbell on Sept. 4, before closing out the weekend against North Florida on Sept. 6.

The Phoenix hosts its home-opener on Sept. 12, against former Southern Conference foe Davidson. The two programs last met in the 2013 season in Davidson with Elon prevailing with a 3-2 double overtime victory. Elon then travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., for its first true road contest of the year with a visit to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Wake Forest, a 2014 NCAA Tournament team. The Phoenix has won three straight matches against the Demon Deacons including the past two games with Wake Forest being ranked.

Elon starts its second year in the Colonial Athletic Association with a home game versus Drexel on Sept. 18. Last year, Elon went 4-2-2 in its first season in the CAA finishing fourth overall in the league standings.

The Phoenix hits the road for its next three matches beginning with a contest at South Carolina on Sept. 22. It will be the first regular-season meeting between the two programs since 2003. Following that match, Elon heads to Delaware, the 2014 CAA regular-season champion, on Sept. 26, before closing out its road trip at William & Mary on Sept. 30.

Following the turn of the calendar into October, Elon returns home to host league foe Northeastern on Oct. 3, before welcoming Lipscomb to Rudd Field for a non-conference tilt on Oct. 10. The Phoenix returns to Wilmington, N.C., for a match against UNCW, another NCAA Tournament team on Oct. 14, before hosting defending CAA tournament champion James Madison on Oct. 17.

The Phoenix takes its final regular-season road trip to Duke (Oct. 20) and Hofstra (Oct. 24) before closing out the year at home versus Radford (Oct. 28) and College of Charleston (Oct. 31).

The CAA Championships begins on Nov. 7, with the quarterfinals at campus sites. The semifinals and the finals are slated for Nov. 12, and Nov. 14, respectively, at the site of the league’s regular-season champion.
