AJGA Results: Shipp Leads By Three After Second-Round 67 At FJ Invitational Played At Sedgefield

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Benjamin Shipp (Duluth, Georgia) is 7-under-par and leads by three strokes after a second-round 67 at the FJ Invitational. Shipp is a rising senior and has verbally committed to NC State, and he will tee off at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with S.M. Lee (Buford, Georgia) and Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Georgia).

Stephen Franken of Raleigh leads the quartet of North Carolina players in the field. Franken recorded four birdies en route to a second-round 69, and his even-par total of 140 has him tied for sixth at the midway point of the tournament. A recent graduate of Millbrook High School, Franken will join the NC State golf team in the fall.

“I’m a member of Raleigh Country Club, which is a Donald Ross course, and I was able to come down twice before the tournament to get a feel for the greens and take my time,” Franken said. “I feel good where I’m at now and tomorrow I can definitely go lower.”

Doc Redman, a rising senior at Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, moved 34 spots up the leaderboard after a second-round 68. He is 3-over-par for the tournament and tied for 25th entering Thursday’s third round.

Reilly Erhardt, a recent graduate of Bishop McGuinness High School in Greensboro, is tied for 42nd at 6-over-par, while Michael Sanders of Davidson is T80 at 19-over-par.

The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties following Thursday’s third round. Tee times for Friday’s final round will begin at 7 a.m. at Sedgefield Country Club’s Donald Ross Course.
