HiToms Drop Road Game to Owls, 4-2

MCNAIR FIELD, NC, JUNE, 11 – After nine innings of a cool western North Carolina evening the Forest City Owls (4-9) win 4-2 over the High Point – Thomasville HiToms (6-8).

The story of the first inning for both teams was three up three down. However, the HiToms started off the scoring in the top of the second where two runs where plated. Glen Batson (Clemson) was scored thanks to a Teddy Hoffman (Texas State) single. Hoffman eventually crossed home plate from a wild pitch to make it a 2-0 lead for the HiToms.

Innings three and four resulted scoreless. The Owls started their comeback in the bottom of the fifth after a wild pitch advanced Rob Koski (Presbyterian College) to third. He eventually plated the first Owls run of the night. Two more runs followed shortly after to make it a 3-2 lead for the Owls heading into the sixth. Javarais Banks (Cameron University) was replaced by Zac Beaver (Akron) midway through the fifth inning.

As the game grew older so did the lead for the Forest City Owls. In the bottom of the sixth the HiToms plated one more run, which was due to a costly error. This proved to be the dagger as the HiToms were unable to make a come back and rally. The finial score was Forest City 4, High Point – Thomasville 2.

The HiToms are back at home tomorrow night against the Asheboro Copperheads at 7:00 p.m. with FIREWORKS following directly after the game. Don’t miss out!
