HiToms Drop Road Game in Double Digits

CORMELL FIELD, SC, – On a cloudy cool night in Florence South Carolina, the Redwolves were unable to be stopped offensively out scoring the HiToms (10-10) 14-5 to the Florence Redwolves (13-6).

In the top of the first the HiToms loaded the bases with no outs but they could only score two. Nick Lopez (Creighton) was the first to come home and was followed by Daniel Millwee (Arizona) for the second of two runs early on.

Chris Adams (Lee University) responded to the explosive top of the first with a solo home run into right field as the lead off in the bottom of the first. Two errors and excellent hitting led to five more runs and ultimately a 6-2 lead for the Redwolves that was never overcome.

David Newcomer (Lenoir-Ryhne) tripled in the lead off spot to start the second. Kody Ruedisili (Wofford) singled to center and plated Newcomer but this was the only offense the HiToms could muster up.

With a one run top of the fifth and seventh the HiToms tried to stay within range of the CPL’s best in the West, the Florence Redwolves. However, the double-digit runs by the Redwolves proved to be insurmountable.

After only eight and a half innings the HiToms drop another road game, 14-5 to the Redwolves.

The HiToms are back at home Friday against the number two team in the CPL West, Gastonia Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
