Eastern Randolph Post 81 beat Winston Salem Post 55 17-6 on Wednesday after a nine-run explosion in the ninth inning.

Eastern Randolph Post 81 scored in the ninth on an error, an error, an RBI single by Chayce Aldridge, a two-run error, a two-run single by Hunter Curtis, and a sacrifice fly by DJ Laxton.

Bailey Steed racked up three RBIs on two hits for Eastern Randolph Post 81.

Winston Salem Post 55 couldn’t get anything going as long as Tommy Michaels was on the bump. Winston Salem Post 55 managed just three hits off of Michaels, who allowed one earned run, walked five and struck out three during his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Eastern Randolph Post 81 easily handled Winston Salem Post 55 pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

Bryson Thomas was charged with the loss. He lasted just 5 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as Eastern Randolph Post 81 scored two runs on a two-run home run by Steed.

Eastern Randolph Post 81 piled on three more runs in the top of the seventh. A bases loaded walk scored Brayden King for the inning’s first run.

Five runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Winston Salem Post 55 close its deficit to 8-6. An RBI single by Josh Kent, an RBI single by Junior Snow, a groundout by Stephen Greene, and a two-run home run by Shane Sullivanfueled Winston Salem Post 55’s comeback. Finally, Curtis got Graham Mortan to ground out to end the threat.
