HPU Women’s Hoops Adds Hailey Yohn To The Staff

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University women’s basketball coach DeUnna Hendrix announced the hiring of Hailey Yohn as the new Director of Operations on Wednesday.

Yohn comes to HPU following a successful playing career at Coker College. The Hillsborough, N.C. native was a three-year captain for the Cobras and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers (211). During her playing career she was named to the South Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice and was voted as the team’s MVP in 2013.

“I am extremely honored and excited to join the High Point women’s basketball staff,” Yohn said. “I am truly thankful that coach Hendrix and the staff gave me this opportunity to join the HPU family. High Point has a long-standing tradition of excellence on and off the court and I look forward to being a part of the continued success and bringing Panthers’ basketball to the next level.”

Hendrix sees great value in infusing more youth and passion into the coaching staff with the hiring of Yohn.

“Hailey may be one of the best-kept secrets in women’s basketball,” Hendrix said. “She is mature beyond her years, self-motivated, and innovative. I look forward to experiencing what Hailey will bring to our program with her eagerness and willingness to grow. I am truly excited for her to join the family.”

Yohn earned her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Studies in May 2015 from Coker College. Yohn has served as a camp coach at Duke University and the University of North Carolina during her collegiate career as well as serving as a student intern for the Coker College men’s basketball team. The former guard was selected to the So You Want to be a Coach Program, which attended the 2015 Final Four in Tampa Bay to learn from various Division I, II and III women’s basketball coaches.
