Charlie Sanders(Dudley High School/Minnesota/Detroit Lions) has passed away at the age of 68…Well thought of man and highly respected throughout the Greensboro and Dudley High School community….Many tributes coming up on all of the local newscasts and work with words from Ed Hardin and Jeff Mills in the Friday edition of the News and Record, hard copy and on-line….

Looking at local talent going in two different directions, as we mourn the death of former Dudley Panther Charlie Sanders one of the all-time great tight ends in the NFL and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and we look at the work being turned in, during the off-season by Northern Guilford runningback C.J. Freeman and this kid is tearing it up and he is creative and innovative too…

Check out the C.J. Freeman(Northern Guilford High School) workout when you CLICK HERE and head on to Twitter with CJ and you will need to scroll down about 7 tweets and you will see the Freeman tweet, “When you don’t have no cones or a football but you still tryna to put in some work”….

Very impressive on the part of C.J. Freeman and even though we lost a great one today in Charlie Sanders, it is good to see we have good young men like C.J. Freeman trying to get ahead and doing it, no matter what it takes….Scroll down and check out that video, pushing a hurdle like a sled, running through water bottles like they are cones and much….Reminds you of working hard back in the old (919)….

“One man gone, one young man trying to carry on”….

  1. In Detroit , Charlie was known as “The Ultimate Lion”.
In Greensboro , Mr Sanders is known as “The Ultimate Panther”.

As a 10 year old kid , I watched Charlie Sanders play in the NFL and become the prototype tight end.

As a man , I saw him come back to the city and mentor our alumni and students.

His Hall of Fame speech made me proud when he referenced his Coach Furcron and my Coaches McKee and Boyers.
I felt right there in Canton with him when he said “The Dudley School Panthers are represented here today”.

    rest in peace Charlie Sanders
