HiToms Crush Crushers, 12-4

FINCH FIELD, NC, July 8 – On the strength of four home runs, the HiToms (16-18) eased their way to a 12-4 win over the Charlotte Crushers (11-19).

In the bottom of the first Cody Lovejoy (Texas State) started the derby with a two run home run plating Kenon Menard (Southeastern Louisiana) and of course himself for runs one and two.

Alec Paradowski (Wofford) joined in on the RBI fest blasting a three run home run in the bottom of the second to score runs three, four and five. From here some insurance runs were plated to stack the scoreboard even more. Back-to-back home runs from Pete Guy (UNC Ashville) and Kody Ruedisili (Wofford) combined for four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Chris Martin (Kent State) had his first start on the mound for the HiToms throwing his best game of the season. He pitched four innings allowing no runs off one hit striking out eleven.

The HiToms take the road tomorrow as they travel to Gastonia. First pitch is set for 7:17. Then the Tommies come back home to host the Asheboro Copperheads for a double header on Friday with fireworks following directly after. First pitch for game one is set for 6:00 p.m.
