Hi-Toms All-Stars: West and East End in Tie, 4-4

CORMELL FIELD, SC, July 13 – After an hour and a half rain delay, the All-Star show down was set to start in the humid and hot Florence, South Carolina. However, with the late start the game was shortened to only eight innings.

In the modified game the West All-Stars cam back in the bottom of the eighth to tie it 4-4, which was the final score. Both teams win!

The East started quickly plating two runs against Trevor Gay (UNC Chapel Hill). Gay recorded all three outs though single handedly striking out three in his one inning of play.

Jake Maziar’s (College of Charleston) first at bat was a first pitch line drive to center that was acrobatically caught by the center fielder. In plate appearance number two Maziar struck out.

Mac Sceroler (Southeastern Louisiana) went three up three down with the help of his infielders having the shortest inning of any HiTom.

Nick Lopez (Creighton) flew out to center in his first at bat but saw no action in the infield as the starting shortstop. In his second at bat Lopez recorded an infield single.

Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian College) threw a scoreless frame striking out two in his half inning on the mound.

The HiToms take the road tomorrow traveling to Asheboro as they face off against the Copperheads for the ninth time this season. Then Wednesday is Shuler Meats Dollar night at Finch Field as the HiToms are back at home to host the Forest City Owls.
