High School Football 7 on 7’s for Today/(7/16/15):SEG at NEG, plus Davie County was there too, at 9am(Re-capping morning action)

July 16/TODAY:Southeast Guilford and the Davie County War Eagles at Northeast Guilford 7 on 7 9am….Davie County vs. NEG rained out last week, DC at NEG, along with SEG today….Davie County stretched the field quite a bit, in an attempt to open up their offense and SEG has to find the man to replace Ryan ‘Bubba’ Craven at quarterback and SEG has a young freshman, Ryan Douglas waiting in the wings, but he has a couple of upperclassmen in front of him, one that has never taken a varsity snap and the other took maybe 10-15 varsity snaps last season and both of the Falcon upperclassmen QB’s have seen time on the JV’s in the past, but have not passed much in the past….NEG is also trying to nail down who their QB will be…Jermeiah Praylor has taken a number of snaps, but others will get their chance too….

The key to the 7 on 7 game is the “BIG PLAY”…Make the big play on offense with the Big Catch and make the big play on defense, with the interception….No real BIG PLAYS today, at least while I was watching….NEG and SEG seem to be developing and DC seems to comfortable going for long ball, as long as it did not take the receiver into the fence at the end line/goal line….Good workout today for all three teams and the weather was near-perfect with it being a cool morning…Began at around 9 and carried on past 11:15 and that is when I had to roll out….

NEG is still re-building and SEG is just re-loading…SEG has a whole stable of RB’s and CJ McThay was out there today, wearing his customary #4 jersey….At least that is the one I remember seeing him in and for most of the SEG players, they had their name and number on the back of their jerseys/shirts….

Couldn’t really say the offense or defense stole the show today, but the weather did “steal the show”, it was PERFECT….Low temps and a great/nice little breeze…A near-perfect day at NEG, on Hicone Road, on this Thursday….

Friday July 17:Northwest Guilford is playing in the Catawba 7v7’s camp…

  1. ANDY,
I’VE HEARD THAT SEG MIGHT BE BETTER THAN EVERYBODY THINKS THIS YEAR. OFF AND DEF LINES MADE UP OF SENIORS AND THEY HAVE MCTHAY BACK, SO THE RUNNING GAME IS GOING TO BE STRONG.WANT HAVE TO THROW MUCH, BUT THEY WILL MISS CRAVEN, NOT ONLY HIS TALENT, BUT HIS LEADERSHIP

  2. Southeast Guilford should be real good..They have some excellent runningbacks, with McThay, Baldwin, and at least two more just as good…People say that young QB Ryan Douglas is the QB of the future at SEG, but he is just a freshman…We will have to keep a watch out on him…QB’s main responsibility at SEG is get the handoff to the RB’s and let them run….Coach Fritz was back home training the linemen this morning while the other coaches had the kids at the NEG 7 on 7, so that line, after hard work in the weightroom, should be ready…

One of the bigger games in the state this season will be Dudley at SEG and that game may be already SOLD OUT, not sure….

SEG should be ranked #2 right behind Page in the preseason in the Metro and they should challenge Page for the #2 spot….

Going to be hard for anyone around here to catch Dudley though, I can guarantee that….Might happen, but that will be a tough task….
