HPU’s WBB HC Hendrix Elected to Howard County Sports Hall of Fame

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women’s basketball team’s head coach DeUnna Hendrix has been elected to the Howard County (Ind.) Sports Hall of Fame, the committee announced on Tuesday.

Hendrix, a 2003 graduate of Kokomo High School, led the Lady Kats to a 26-0 record and a Class 4A state title during her senior season. The lefty averaged 13.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game that year to finish her career with 1,210 career points.

From there, she went on to play at the University of Richmond where she served as the team’s captain during her senior season. Hendrix is entering her fourth season as the head coach for the Panthers in 2015-16. She was the quickest coach in the program’s Division I history to reach 50 wins when she accomplished that feat in just 80 games.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 31 at the Ivy Tech Kokomo Event and Conference Center. Tickets are available for $25 by calling Ron Barsh at 765-453-4739.

The Purple & White will begin their season on Nov. 13 against Greensboro College in the Millis Center.
